Pretty Huge

I don’t think I’m going to shock anyone when I say that maybe the olympics are facing a certain amount of apathy in the American viewing public this year.  I haven’t really heard a lot of interest from my peer group in keeping up with what’s going on, and to be honest, the only reason I know what’s going on in Beijing is because I’m on vacation by a lake when there are constant electrical storms which are preventing me from being outside.

So I’m wondering a couple of things.  Should NBC, the network which has the contract for the Olympics this year, should have put a little more thought into the website this year?  If you’ll forgive the metaphor, looking at this website would be like kicking my eyes in the balls, If my eyes had balls.

The other thing I’m wondering is, given the bar to entry that is our general lack of interest, maybe they shouldn’t have gone with requiring MS Silverlight to view video on the damn thing.  I can tell you that, without question, that has prevented me from consuming any of the data on their site
