Things to be excited about in re: raising my child
Am very excited to teach my boy about air guitar before he learns how a stereo works.  That way he’ll think that my air guitar playing is actually the source of the music.

Immigrant Song
I was going to say that I’m conflicted by the Trent Reznor/Karen O cover of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song. Sure, the opening is pretty awesome - the driving beat which replaces the guitar riff at the beginning is pretty well done. And the closing few notes, so reminiscent of the the sounds from Broken and Fixed are not unlike eating lemon cookies for bringing back memories. But...

I’ll be frank - I totally dig it when news gets so weird that you have to look at the domain name of the site you’re on to figure out if the article is a joke or not.

The appointment completes the team of senior creatives that will lead the direction of the London 2012 Ceremonies.” Wow!  Something just got me...

spark →
onethingwell: A little shell script that lets you generate sparklines at the command line: spark 0 30 55 80 33 150 ▁▂▃▅▂▇ You can also pipe stuff to spark—see this wiki page for some clever examples. This is pretty cute.  I like the idea of putting inside your prompt, think there’s some interesting information you pull to put there.

Yak Shaving
In order to write some computer program today, I found myself doing a long list of dependent tasks which resulted in me literally looking up the etymology of yak shaving so I could explain it to my team.

This made me choke up a little, I'll be honest
Senator John Pastore: “Is there anything connected with the hopes of this accelerator that in any way involves the security of the country?”  Physicist Robert Rathburn Wilson: “No sir, I don’t believe so.”  Pastore: “Nothing at all?”  Wilson: “Nothing at all.”  Pastore: “It has no value in that respect?”  Wilson: “It has only to do with the respect with which we regard one another, the...
